Space Maintenance

One of the most important roles of a baby tooth is to maintain space for the permanent teeth. If a baby tooth is lost early a space maintainer can be fabricated to save the space until the permanent tooth is ready to come in. If not, the remaining teeth in the mouth can shift and increase the likelihood of improper alignment of the permanent teeth.

Habit Appliance

Thumbsucking and pacifier use are normal behaviors in infants but should not continue into childhood. Persistence can lead to permanent changes to the developming teeth and jaw. While most children stop on their own, some can benefit from some assistance. A habit appliance can be a helpful reminder for them to stop.
