Toothache

To soothe a toothache, first make sure the teeth are clean and free of any food debris. Rinsing with warm salt water can sooth irritated gums. Limit sugars if a cavity is suspected. If needed OTC pain medication can be used such as Tylenol or Motrin. See your dentist as soon as possible.


Cut On The Tongue Or Lip

Apply ice to bruised area to prevent swelling. Apply firm pressure with a clean cloth or gauze if there is any bleeding. If bleeding persists after 15 minutes, go to the nearest emergency room.

Broken Tooth

Report to the nearest emergency room if there is any head trauma. apply ice to bruised area to prevent swelling. Locate any broken fragments if possible. See your dentist as soon as possible.


Knocked Out Permanent Tooth

Report to the nearest emergency room if there is any head trauma. Locate the tooth. Hold the tooth by the crown, never the root, and gently rinse the tooth. Never clean the tooth by rubbing the root. Replace the tooth back in the socket if possible otherwise store it in a cup of milk.  Bring the patient and tooth to the dentist immediately. Time is essential to successful replantation of the tooth.
